"I don't believe an accident of birth makes people sisters or brothers.
It makes them siblings, gives them mutuality of parentage. Sisterhood and brotherhood is a condition people have to work at." - Maya Angelou
Today I am grateful for my sister and my brother --- well, everyday I'm thankful for them, but today I'm just acknowledging it publicly :) (Because we all know that we NEVER tell them how wonderful they are on a consistent basis, because that would ruin the sanctity of sibling'isms' -- teasing, fighting, laughing, joking, fighting --- but mostly loving.) I have the most amazing sister and brother, and I've always known this -- but in the last several years, as I've watched them tackle enormous, life changing obstacles and fight their way through brilliantly, I have realized just how remarkable they are, and what a gift it is to have them in my life. I am blessed to have a brother and a sister who are truly my very best friends --- regardless of age difference, miles, or busy lives. We are always there for each other -- we are close, and for that, I am truly, truly Thankful.
